So this week I want to talk to you all about an upcoming event, NaNoWriMo. November is National Novel Writing Month- aka NaNoWriMo- and it's an amazing chance to work on your writing skills.
NaNoWriMo is one month in which thousands of writers try to write 50,000 in a month. It’s really fun and if you join a cabin, you can be in a great community of supportive writers who chat, uplift each other, and have fun writing. I’ve been doing NaNoWriMo for about 5 years now, and it's incredibly fun.
The camp is all digital, and to join, just click the link here and sign up! https://nanowrimo.org/
Now I know a lot of people love the idea of writing for NaNo, but once they see the ‘50,000 words in one month’, most of them back off because they don’t think they can write that much. And the wonderful thing about NaNo is that you don't actually have to write 50,000 words. They only say that word count to motivate you to write a lot and actually progress in that book you’ve been wanting to write. So don’t worry about completing 50,000 words. Even writing just 3,000 words would be great. The main point of this event is to get your imagination running and to have fun!
So if you’ve decided that this event sounds like something you would like to do, and you’ve signed up, feel free to shoot us an email at silverarcblog@gmail.com and then T.C. and I can invite you to the Silver Arc Blog Cabin on NaNoWriMo! We’d love to have you join us!
Now onto my actual writing update…
For Elven Cursed, all I need to do is have the book cover designed, and then I’LL BE READY TO PUBLISH. I’m sooo close to publishing and I’m really excited to publish my book. Right now, I’m narrowing down who I want to design the book cover, then it’ll be another few months before the cover is ready. I’m thinking the book cover should be started around the end of November but I’m not completely sure…
So yeah, that’s what’s up for Elven Cursed, so now for another fun announcement! I’m currently planning another book idea (surprise surprise), and I think I’ll turn the idea into a trilogy… maybe… I’m still fleshing everything out, but I know for sure it’s going to have tons of magic, teen witches and wizards, and plenty of adventure.
Pretty much it’s a magic school, kinda like Hogwarts, the School for Good and Evil, and some other aspect that I don’t know how to name. But yeah, it’ll be tons of fun and a boatload of planning (coming up with not one, not two, not three but FOUR magical curriculums isn’t as easy as it sounds… especially when you have to make up the classes. You can’t just be like “Oh yeah they’ll take algebra.”). I also have to come up with about 75 students, and maybe 20 something teachers. Fun, I know right?
I mean, it actually is fun, but as I’m not much of a planner when it comes to writing- I prefer to have a basic plot, then let the story write itself from there- it’s a bit odd to write everything out. But hey, trying new things is always good for you.
I think that’s about all for this week, so thanks for stopping by and see you on the writing side!
