Heyo Readers! A.G. Silver here!
Ooooh my word this past week has been so chaotic it’s insane. So first off we held all the performances for Taming of the Shrew (It went really well and I had soooo much fun. Literally I’m at my happiest time when I’m on stage). I was up til one in the morning for like 5 days straight, and I rode an adrenaline high the whole time since I was so excited and happy, but then when Monday came back around and the show was over, I was literally dead tired. I have never fallen asleep before in class and I was sooo close to just passing out during math class. I was exhausted but like I didn’t mind??? It was a happy tired from doing what I love. Then on that same Monday, right after school I went to rehearsal for the OTHER play I’m in, and then the day after I went to choir practice. All the performance opportunities are just AHHH I love it so much oh my gosh-
So what I want to talk about with y’all this week is kind of on topic with performing, though honestly it can be applied to anything. Last time I talked about trying new things, and this week I want to talk about taking risks. To give some back story to this topic, recently I did this audition for a singing opportunity (Currently waiting to hear back on if I passed or not), and while I have never had any sort of professional training in singing or performing (everything has always been me just kinda jumping into the middle and being like sure I’ll try it), I thought it would be fun to go to the audition. Besides, even if I don't pass, at least I have some experience now in what it’s like going to these kinds of things.
I encourage you Readers to try doing some activities like this. If there is something you wish you could get into, but you don’t think you’ll ever be good enough, or maybe it’s something you want to try later in the future, take a risk and try it right now. Even if you don’t pass the entry test or anything along those lines, at least you now have some experience.
Whether it be fear or you think you lack the skills, go for it. Test out the waters and see what you ARE capable of. I believe in each and every one of you!
Now, onto the word of the week! This month’s theme is cool words related to animals! Our first word of this month is…:
The Word of the Week is: Acclimation
Pronunciation (Romanized): Ack-lih-may-shuhn
Definition: The process by which an animal becomes more fit for its environment over the course of its lifetime within one generation.
Example: After a period of acclimation to the environment, the dog breed was able to survive in the new country.
