Hello, Readers! T.C. Arc here again! A.G. Silver was planning to write today’s post but she got caught up in some other responsibilities so I’m filling in. Lately, I’ve been thinking about the different qualities that make a person a writer and came up with the question: What does a writer look like? That question was quickly followed by another one: Do I look like a writer?
I picture the author aesthetic as someone with a bunch of books in their room, wears glasses, likes to drink tea, etc. But the truth is, there isn’t a set look for writers because looks aren’t what sets an author apart or their purpose, their writing is.
So, whether you construct plots over a warm cup of tea overlooking a beautiful view or when you are in your pajamas and about to go to sleep, don’t be so worried about your image or having to present yourself a certain way. Being an author doesn’t even have to do with always meeting deadlines or writing every second of the day. The great thing about being a writer is that you can balance it between being a student, sibling, friend, or any other job.
Now, there is still something to be said about image. Authors don’t need to look a certain way, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t present ourselves well as a person. We try not to judge a book by its cover or a person by their looks but sometimes that is the only thing we have to go on.
Clothes, hair, and makeup can be really fun to experiment with and I encourage you to find your own style! I personally dislike wearing makeup and go for a more casual style while A.G. likes to wear makeup and try a bunch of amazing hairstyles. Finding your style is all about wearing what makes you feel like yourself. When you are wearing clothes and accessories you like, you feel more comfortable and it helps you present your authentic self!
The Word of the Week is: Biblioklept
Pronunciation (Romanized): bib-lee-o-klept
Definition: A person who steals books
History and Etymology: A combination of the Greeks words biblion (book) and klept (theif)
Example: The librarian observed that one of her favorite books was missing and cried, “A biblioklept has been here!”
Have an amazing week, Readers, and have fun experimenting with your style!
