Hello hello Readers! A.G. Silver here!
This week's post is going to be a bitttt shorter than others, solely because I’m still in the middle of busy season for school and what not. I am still working on that essay I mentioned last time (Yay.), and I am coordinating schedules for 3 different practices (two separate plays and then Jazz Choir). As hectic as it is, I wouldn’t trade it for anything because I absolutely adore performing and will always find a way to balance it out with school.
Anyway for today’s post I wanted to talk about our passions- the things we love and have a dream of achieving. My passion is performing (singing and acting), though honestly I just love everything in the media- writing included. I am currently in Jazz choir, which is slightly different than the musical performances I am more drawn towards (Pop stuff), but I decided to try it out because it’s always good to try new things and y’all lemme tell you pleaseeeeeee always try new things. Because I joined Jazz choir 1. I made a bunch of new friends 2. I learned how to harmonize better 3. I get to participate in fun competitions. So far, I don’t think I’ve regretted trying new things. I always learn something new, and usually have a fun experience while doing so. Another new thing I’m trying is inside theatre. I usually play very sassy, snarky characters in plays (woot woot), but during the audition for Taming of The Shrew, I commented that I would like to try a more goody two shoes, sweet character and yay I got that role and it’s been so much fun! So little things like that you can do to try new things! I was still sort of in the realm of what I am passionate about, but I got to see a new side of things.
Lastly, it is time for Word of the Week! We are now in March and our theme is music (*happy scream*). This week’s word is:
The Word of the Week is: Lisztomania
Pronunciation (Romanized): Lis-to--may-knee-ah
Definition: The need to always listen to music
History and Etymology: This word was first used to talk about a fan fever frenzy towards the Hungarian composer Franz Liszt during his performances. It was coined by Heinrich Heine in 1844.
Example: His lisztomania drove him to be horribly grumpy when his earbuds were not charged and he was unable to listen to music.
That is all for this week, so have a lovely week and I’ll see you on the author side!
