Hello, hello Readers, T.C. Arc here! It’s been about a month and a half since I posted by myself so I’m excited to share my recent ventures with y’all!
It is finalllyyyyy spring break! My break is pretty late this year because I’m homeschooling and the one class I have online didn’t have a scheduled break until now (and they gave us a 1500 word essay to write the week before so…) but I am having a pretty good week. My family and I didn’t go anywhere and I am perfectly okay with that especially since my summer is starting to get filled with some camps and conferences.
I’ve finally had time to do some calligraphy which has been great. I usually do book quotes or song lyrics so I’ll show you one pic of each.
This first one is a quote from either Six of Crows or Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. I’m pretty sure it’s from Crooked Kingdom but after I’ve read a series the individual details from each book start to get mixed up in my head. I really like this picture because while I didn’t draw those daggers at the top of the picture completely from my mind, I still drew them based on a picture and they turned out really well. I also wrote Kaz and Inej’s names based on pictures and those turned out really cool.
This second one is the first lyrics of the song ‘Stay Gold’ by BTS. That’s right y’all, AG dragged me into liking kpop XD. Anyways, the calligraphy is pretty simple and I didn’t do any extra designs or doodles like in the first picture but, for the words “stay gold” I used a technique I really like which is outlining the words in another color. I never remember how much and what side of the letters to outline but this one turned out pretty well. Also, a lot of times when I try to center my calligraphy on the page I end up going all over the place but, I managed to stay pretty center this time.
Turning to matters with my writing, progress has been made! The last time I updated my status on the ‘Home’ page of Silver Arc, A Heart Adrift had just reached 5,000 words. I am pleased to announce that it is currently 7,891 words! I just finished the first draft of chapter four on Monday or Tuesday and I’ve started to figure out exactly what I want to accomplish by the end of chapter five. I’m thinking I still have about three or four chapters to go, so in total the story should be a little under 10 chapters. Maybe I can stretch it but we shall see. It's a lot longer than Hey There Delilah, and since I want to publish the stories together I don’t want them all to be totally different lengths. Hey There Delilah has not been worked on for a while, I’ve been focusing on A Heart Adrift, but I still have plans for some more scenes here and there.
Speaking of writing ventures, it's time for a reminder to back up your work because I had the scare of a lifetime this week. In order to start getting some inspiration for Way of the Dragon, I decided to read everything I’d written for the story. So, I went to google docs and searched for Way of the Dragon and...nothing popped up in my library. After that, I searched WoD because the story is spread over a few different docs and sometimes I shortened the title. Chapter four and five popped up, which gave me some relief. But, I still couldn’t find the first three chapters of the story. I panicked thinking I had lost the chapters as well as some of my plot notes but then I realized I was only looking at my offline docs. I reconnected to the internet on my laptop, looked up Way of the Dragon again in my online docs and everything was there. Long story short, make sure you are looking at all of your docs before panicking and back up your work for extra protection XD.
That’s all I have for today, but I wanted to remind y’all that if you have any topics concerning writing that you would like AG or I to cover in a post, or an author you would love to see in an interview, don’t hesitate to reach out! Thanks for stopping by Readers, enjoy the spring weather and have a great Easter!
