Hello, my lovely Readers! A.G. Silver here! I hope you have all had a lovely week- I know I have. I finally went to a football game and after-party for the first time in forever. I got to meet new people again and overall it was a great experience.
Now for this week’s post, I wanted to talk about something that T.C. Arc and I strive to put into practice: appreciating the small things in life. Being happy about new steps you’ve taken or goals you’ve achieved, no matter how small they may seem. It can be something as simple as never having time to write, but now you set aside 10 minutes for writing a day.
The reason I wanted to talk about this is because I know many people, myself included, compare themselves to others and feel that they come up short. One thing for me is that I see most of my classmates taking all honors classes while I’m only taking one honors class. Does that mean I’m not as smart as them? No, I just prefer to take one honors class so I will still have time on the weekends or after school to participate in more clubs and extracurricular activities. But at times I feel as if I’m not as smart and “wasting time” while I’m in a club.
Another thing for me is seeing people my age who are out in the world, writing songs, acting in movies, and being incredible. Then I look at myself and I’m like… wow what have I done with my life. And yes I tend to forget I wrote a book haha. But even when I do remember, I feel as if a book that has a small fandom is nothing compared to some famous teen actor.
But the thing is, as long as we are doing our personal best, and constantly pushing ourselves to be better, then we are exactly where we need to be. Maybe we aren’t known worldwide, but we are known to the people it matters most. Maybe we aren’t out there selling thousands of albums a day as more and more people learn about us, but at least we gained two more Readers who we can personally connect and relate to.
So appreciate the little things. Celebrate that you managed to help even just ten people, because wow you just changed the life of ten people. Ten people- like holy cow do you realize how amazing that is??? You just inspired ten people to better themselves, and you helped them find what they want to do with their life. Even if it seems like such a small amount of people, the impact you left was huge- and that’s what matters.
When you pour your all into what you want to do and make it your goal to help even just ONE person, then you’ve already won. And once you’ve helped one person, soon you’ll be helping more. Take T.C. and I for example- we started off with the most obscure little site and had about five Readers (Quick shout out to those five OGs 😂❤️). Five Readers. And do you know where we are now? Around a THOUSAND Readers. A thousand. And we started off with five, Y’all it’s only been a year. T.C. Arc and I have no idea how this happened.
But you know what we did along the way? We celebrated Every. Little. Event. We got one subscriber that week when we just started and guess what we did. We’d both be calling each other talking about how happy we were. Some person out there in the world wanted to hear our advice every week?! The thought was crazy to us. We gained five more Readers the next week? There we’d go, celebrating because wow we just gained so many lovely Readers. And so on and so forth for every occasion throughout the year. No matter how big or small the event was, we celebrated. And maybe that’s confusing to some of you- because why celebrate when you got two more Readers and now you have twenty total? Why celebrate and be all excited because you have Readers in only two countries?
It’s because to us, everything is an achievement. As we’ve said before, we never expected to have more than fifty Readers (and that was already us being overly optimistic) and yet here we are.
So, celebrate. Be happy with the little things because you’re doing the best you can and that’s the most amazing thing anyone could ask for. So don’t ever feel down that you aren’t reaching someone else’s goals- because you aren’t them and I would never want you to be them. You’re amazing and talented as yourself and those five or so Readers, or subscribers, or whoever follows you, can see that and loves who you are.
Well, so that was a long motivational speech haha. But I seriously hope it helps y’all! Have a lovely week, and see you on the author side!!!
