Hello, Readers, T.C. Arc here! I apologize for the late post, but I hope y’all are having an amazing week! We all have crazy schedules, so when we get a bit of free time it is important to take advantage of it. Today, I am going to talk about something called ‘time confetti’, and how to use our free time in the best way.
Time confetti is all the extra time we find scattered throughout our day. Some examples would be when you are waiting for your parents to pick you up from an activity, the time you have after finishing your homework and before dinner, and a break between classes at school. In my case at least, I usually use my time confetti to quickly pull up a Youtube video or scroll through Pinterest. Social media is so easily accessible in these moments it can become a crutch, but what else could we be doing with our time?
I made a list of things I could do instead and here are my top three options:
Practice another language
Work on Silver Arc resources
Pray
I am currently studying Spanish and Korean in my free time and the apps I use have a limited time I am able to practice for free. So, they are perfect to fill up my minimal free time! Believe it or not, there is quite a bit of vocabulary and grammar you can learn in five minutes. I’m sure A.G. and I could do a separate post on language learning tips so, I’ll stop here.
Working on my Silver Arc posts is such a good way for me to use my free time. I always want to help y’all as much as possible, so getting an early start on my next post or updating the ‘For Writers’ page is definitely better than scrolling through Pinterest.
Prayer may not be a priority for everyone, but you can think of this as a sort of daily check-in instead. I would probably use this time to review your actions that day. It is a chance to redirect your thoughts and reaffirm your purpose for the rest of the day. If I am feeling stressed then I can take a deep breath, remember that I don’t have to do everything by myself, and be able to keep going.
What do all these examples have in common? They are activities I enjoy and would try to squeeze in my day anyway, and they are easily accessible! Spending time on social media or watching Youtube is not a bad thing. Yet, if we only spend our free time on those, it is less satisfying and makes it more stressful trying to fit our hobbies in with daily life. Using your confetti time on your hobbies does not take the break out of your break. Although you may be working, it is a fun work instead of a strictly necessary one. Using our confetti time wisely is almost like a superpower. One person was able to write a whole book in a year…only using their confetti time! How can you use your confetti time well?
Word of the Week: Redamancy
Pronunciation: Reed-am-un-see
Definition: A love returned in full; an act of loving the one who loves you
History and Etymology: From the New Latin redamantia, from the Classical Latin redamō (“I requite love”).
Example: She wanted to not only be a lover but for someone to love her with redamancy.
Have a fantastic day, Readers! The week is halfway over and you are crushing it! <3
