Pronunciation: dwen-day

Definition: the feeling of profound awe experienced when viewing a piece of art, a performance, or listening to music that has deeply moved a person

History and Etymology: Duende or tener duende ("to have duende") is a Spanish term for a heightened state of emotion, expression and authenticity, often connected with flamenco. The term derives from "duen de casa" (master of the house), which similarly inspired the duende of folklore.

Example: She remembered he loved the song When We Were Young and could never hear it without feeling duende at the emotion in the singer’s voice.
