Greetings Readers, and welcome to 2022! Whether you are new here or have been with us since the very beginning, we are thrilled to start this new year with you!
As the new year comes and the old year goes, so do some of the things at Silver Arc. As of 2022, we are stopping the author interviews and replacing them with something else. Now never fear, we are not stopping the interviews forever. Rather, we will be rotating year by year between our ‘special segments’- who knows maybe eventually we will have author interviews and other special segments all at once.
Our new segment that we will be doing in place of the author interviews will be the ‘Word of the Week’. Each month we will have a different theme, and based on that theme, T.C. Arc and I will share a unique word we like. It will just be a little something to expose y’all to words you may or may not have seen before. For January, our theme is Book Related Words!
Now drumroll please for our first ever Word of the Week!
*dramatic pause*
The Word of the Week is: Omnilegent
Pronunciation (Romanized): Ohm-nhil-leh-gehnt
Definition: Reading, or having read everything.
History and Etymology: Derived from the words ‘Omni’ which means ‘All, or of all things’ and ‘Legere’ which is Latin for ‘To read’.
Example: She seems to know quotes from every book, it’s almost as if she is omnilegent.
Voila! First-ever Word of the Week! We can’t wait to continue this with you Readers! If there are any word categories you would like us to do (Good academic words?), head over to the contact page and send a message letting us know what you would like us to share!
So far, it has been a little under half a year since the one year anniversary of Silver Arc. At that time, T.C. Arc and I shared a list of goals we had for this coming year of Silver Arc. As of now, we have already surpassed our goal of reaching out to 25 total countries for Silver Arc- we are already at 27 countries!? (Fun side story, as of 2021 we had 26 countries, but then we woke up and checked the analytics, and on the first day of 2022, we got another country??? Talk about a good start to the year)
Secondly, we had a goal to reach 1,200 Readers in total. We are getting really close to reaching it, so we should be able to reach it by the second anniversary!
Our third goal was to interview 12 authors, one each month of 2021, which we did successfully! Ten of the twelve authors were experienced in all sorts of writing concepts, and some even in the process of preparing a book for publishing. The last two author interviews were Silver Arc’s very own A.G. Silver and T.C. Arc so that you Readers could see what our lives as authors are like! Go check those out if you haven’t already!
Our last goal was to expand our platform to Youtube, which we talked about in our Introduction video Here. While we have not done anything for that expansion yet (Yay having to juggle so many projects at once), A.G. Silver is working on some projects which hopefully will take flight in 2022!
Now, we thought it would be fun to do a little summary of what our personal favorite posts were this year, whether that be our favorite ones to read, write, or whatever it may be, so we will both share our top three!
A.G. Silver:
‘The Beginning of an Adventure’- This was our first ever blog post and it holds a lot of meaning to me because it was the first-moment T.C. Arc and I’s dream of writing together actually felt real.
‘Surprise!’- This was the first time we got to share with you Readers that we were getting an official domain for Silver Arc! (If you were here with us since the beginning, you probably remember the horrendous ‘sites.google.com/silvearc/blah blah blah’ that we had to have for our site. Fun times.)
‘Appreciate the Small Things’- I think this is my favorite post that I have written because it’s pretty timeless. No matter what, it’s always good to be reminded to appreciate the small things that way we don’t get dragged down by all the darker things around us.
T.C. Arc:
‘Authenticity in Writing’ (Parts I and II)- are two posts really special to me because authenticity is one of the values A.G. Silver and I are working hard to achieve and inspire in others. Before writing the post, I really had to think about how authenticity relates to writing which served as a good reminder and refocus for my own writing.
‘Rain Psalm’- is definitely a favorite post of mine because it is the first poem I shared with you, Readers! “Rain Psalm” is also the poem that kickstarted my idea to write a collection of sonnets which is now underway! It is a project that I am really enjoying and I’m aiming to publish it by the end of 2022.
‘Sonnet Study’- For similar reasons this post is special to me because it has to do with beginning my poetry writing journey. I remember my 7th-grade English teacher introducing us to sonnets and the teacher in me couldn’t help but feel some nostalgia passing the information on XD.
We are super excited for this next year with you Readers, and can’t wait to see where life takes us! Lots of love from Silver Arc! Ciao and see you on the author side!
