Hello Readers! A.G. Silver here!
So, it’s been around… 2 weeks since Elven Cursed was released I think. Dang time flies. I’ve been so blessed these past few weeks with such supportive Readers, and I’m so thankful. It’s so fun to see pictures of everyone with their books, a well as the wonderful comments you send my way. I’m shocked at how intrigued some Readers got into my book. They sent me questions about the smallest details, and it was quite fun to answer them. For this week, I’ll be sharing one of the questions with you guys.
WARNING: If you have not read the book, this next part of the post has spoilers. You can skip down to the end where I talk about other things, if you don’t want to spoil part of the book. Don’t say I didn’t warn you ;p
Onto the question! So one of the most common questions I got, was about Elf Friends. Early on in the book, when Fae is in prison and Pax is discussing with Fae where the Elves should send her, he suggests sending her to a nearby village of humans. Well, the humans aren’t necessarily welcoming to human strangers with a sketchy backstory (As if anyone would believe that Fae came from a different world) so to cover up for the fact that Fae had a less than satisfactory back story, Pax told Fae to tell the humans that she was an Elf friend.
By saying this, the humans would be less paranoid, because it would make it seem like Fae had been living with the Elves- and having a person who is good friends with the Elves in their town would prevent any skirmishes or mishaps from happening.
Now many Readers asked, what exactly is an Elf friend?
So if you are an Elf friend, there’s like a magical bond placed on you. It allows you into the Elf kingdom without there being repercussions. Pretty much like an invisible citizenship.
Now if you are an Elf friend, you can bring a non Elf friend into the Elf world, because you are trusted by the Elves. (Every Elf can make a human and Elf friend, but the friendship is more valued the higher ranked an Elf is)
So if Faelynn were to claim she was an Elf friend and then try to go back and visit the elves, she wouldn’t be able to because she wasn’t actually an elf friend.
If she attempted to get in, she would either get attacked with the magic in the barrier, or the Elves would be alerted, and they would come to deal with the problem. Now lets say she made friends in the human town, and they asked her to bring them into the Elf kingdom (which she would have been allowed to do if she were a true Elf friend), she would not have been able to. Of course, she could always tell her friends no, but that would become suspicious after a while.
Secondly, if Fae were to not only claim that she was an Elf friend, but the Crown Prince’s Elf friend, and then end up having lied about it, that would cause major problems. The Elves and humans aren’t at war, but they definitely are not on the friendliest of terms. Pax’s kingdom is the friendliest and most welcoming to humans while others can be… let’s just say they are not nice at all to humans. So if Fae were to claim to be an Elf friend of a future king, everyone would believe that there was going to be peace. But once the townspeople found out that Fae was lying, they would probably burn her at the stake or do something horrible.
So that’s why Fae said no, we can’t pretend to have a false treaty between humans and Elves. Such a long answer for what seemed like a simple question hahaha.
Oh, on a side note, that way no one gets confused, when Fae fell through the sky for the first time and landed in Pax’s castle, there was no magical barrier alert because the portal was intended to let her into Iloquiea. Who caused the portal? You may never know *Dramatic hand waving as I slowly back away*.
The same goes for when Fae, ax, and Zier brought Jacqui to the Elf world- the portal was intentional so there was no alert.
Well that was a fun short Q&A about Elven Cursed. I hope y’all enjoyed it- and feel free to message me about any other questions you have, no matter how big or small.
Moving on! I don’t know if you all have had spring break already, but I just got off of my short vacation and I’m so thankful for the weeklong break. There are always so many enjoyable ways to spend the break- one of my favorites being visiting my cousins. It’s a long drive to their house, but it’s worth it. I’m a city gal, and they are country people, so it’s fun to live with all the trees and wild animals for a bit. I get to do things like fishing (which I never get to do), and I get to see all the cute shops in their town. My ultimate favorite shop is this little Antique shop that has literally everything. Each year that we go to the shop, they alwaysss sell a sword and each year I always end up buying the sword ahahaha. What do expect of a fantasy writer?
Anyway, I have the newest edition to my sword family and it’s beautiful. Look!
So yeah that’s how I spent my spring break. Be on the lookout for next weeks post- we are interviewing another author!
I hope you Readers have a good weekend! See you on the author side!
